During Holy Week, we were delighted to host an Experience Easter event at St John’s Methodist Chapel and St John’s Royal Chapel, welcoming children from St John’s Primary School and Foxdale Primary School across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Using the Jumping Fish Publications Experience Easter resource, the church was transformed into a series of interactive stations, each exploring a key moment from Jesus’ final week. Through these carefully designed spaces, the children journeyed through the events of Holy Week—from Palm Sunday and the Last Supper to the cross and the hope of the resurrection. These stations are intentionally multi-sensory and reflective, helping children engage with the story in a meaningful and memorable way.
Throughout the sessions, the children approached each station with great enthusiasm, curiosity, and openness. They asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas, and entered into the activities with genuine interest. It was encouraging to see how deeply they engaged with the story—not just learning about what happened, but beginning to reflect on what it means.
One of the joys of the event was watching the children respond in their own ways—through conversation, quiet reflection, and interaction. The experience created space for them to encounter the Easter story not simply as something to hear, but something to explore.
At the end of their journey, the children gathered outside to fly kites together. This brought a beautiful and memorable conclusion to their visit. The activity was inspired by the Good Friday tradition in Bermuda, where kite flying symbolises Christ’s ascension and the hope of new life. It was a moment of joy, freedom, and celebration—echoing the message of Easter itself.
We are grateful to the schools for joining us, and to all who helped prepare and lead the sessions. Events like this continue to strengthen the relationship between church and school, offering opportunities to share the Christian story in ways that are engaging, accessible, and deeply meaningful.
