We are pleased to announce that Brian Kermode, Trinity Church Property Steward, has been honoured for his service among others. Here are the details as communicated by the Diocese of Sodor and Mann.
On Thursday 2nd April, the King will award the gift of specially minted Maundy money to four recipients from the Isle of Man.
Brian Kermode, Bruce Kirkham, Elizabeth Sheen and Edna Clarke are all being honoured for their faithful and outstanding Christian service to their local communities. The four of them represent both the Anglican and Methodist churches of the Isle of Man. They will receive the Maundy money at a special service in St Asaph Cathedral, Wales.
The award of the Royal Maundy goes back to medieval times and publicly expresses the monarch's desire to celebrate Christian service to others. Symbolically the honouring of the recipients reminds us of the way that Jesus Christ washed the feet of His disciples at the Last Supper.
