The first Friday in March is designated as World Day of Prayer. This year's theme has been chosen by Christian women in the Cook Islands., a tiny island nation between Tonga and Samoa on the other side of the earth.
Entitled I made you wonderful, the service is based on words from Psalm 139, and invites us to recognise that God created each one of us with great attention and loving care. We are each unique and special, and should cherish all aspects of who we are and of those around us.
Services are planned ecumenically across the Isle of Man. The poster shown gives details of the Southern service, to be held at Colby Methodist Chapel.
Although many still refer to this event by its former name as Women's World Day of Prayer, may we point out that World Day of Prayer is an inclusive event – hence the tongue-in-cheek comment on the poster! All are welcome!
